Today we decided to have a fun movie night and rent Cars 2 because somehow we’d never seen that one. Star race car Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and the incomparable tow truck Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) take their friendship on the road from Radiator Springs, heading overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car. We’ve watched Cars 3 a few times and it was pretty good. Torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret spy mission, Mater’s action-packed journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world. He has tons of lightning McQueen toys and is always racing around winning the race. Cars 2 continues the unlikely best-friendship of Lightning McQueen and Mater, and also required the tow truck to drive the films action-adventure plotline. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage.
